If the App doesn't work as expected after your installation, check the following to help with troubleshooting.
Wix Installation Issues
If your Website was not published when you added the Buying Buddy App you will see error messages.
This is easy to fix by deleting the App, publishing your site and then re-adding the App.
How to Fix:
Unfortunately, the App installation process has already started.
Please follow these steps to try again with a published site.
When you are ready, close the panel and wait for the current installation process to finish.
You will see the components being added. Refresh the browser if needed.
1. Delete The App
- Delete the App from your Wix Editor by going to
Add Apps > Manage Apps (at the bottom)
Then delete the Buying Buddy App. - Make sure it really does get deleted!
Exit the editor and refresh if you are having problems.
2. Publish Site
- Publish your site.
- Now you can re-add the App.
App Not Connected To The Correct Buying Buddy Account
When you add the Buying Buddy App, your Wix site gets connected to your Buying Buddy account with a special Wix website ID (the "instance-id").
Problems will occur if you log in to a different Buying Buddy account when re-adding the App.
For example:
- You may have had a Free Trial account but you re-added the App and created a new account
The Buying Buddy system now has conflicting entries and widgets will show messages that indicate that your account is incorrect, not authorized or needs to be upgraded.
How to Check In your Buying Buddy Account
- Log in to your Buying Buddy dashboard and go to Widgets > Authorized Domains.
- Click the row for your Wix website to expand the details
- Problems will be indicated with a message as shown below.
How To Check in your Wix Editor
- In your Wix account, go to the Wix settings
- In the black menu on the left, go to App Market > Buying Buddy
- In the Helpful Resources column on the right, go to the bottom and find your Buying Buddy Account ID.
- Now login to your Buying Buddy Dashboard and go to Account Settings
(Top menu > Account > Account Settings) - Check your Account ID that is shown in the Account Summary panel on the right.
- This should be the same as the Account ID shown on your Wix Dashboard
How to Fix This
- If the Account IDs are different, or your Buying Buddy account shows no "instance id" for your Wix site, please submit a Help Ticket explaining the situation so we can correct your account settings.
Remove Site Password Protection
Buying Buddy widgets and components need to communicate with our servers.
Having password protection on the site will prevent these communications and widgets will not be displayed correctly.
To turn off this feature:
- Go to the Editor
- Find and click Settings in the top menu
- Click the option for "Site Password"
- Select "Everyone" can view the site - and save.
Turn Off Cookie Consent Banner
You must ensure this Wix Settings feature is OFF.
Displaying the Cookie banner will prevent the Buying Buddy App from working.
Buying Buddy uses 3rd party cookies and the the Wix Cookie banner feature will block these cookies by default. This means that Buying Buddy will not function correctly until the correct level of consent is provided by your website visitor.
Wix cannot guarantee that the cookie banner is able to block potential non-essential cookies from these parties:
- Third-party apps from the app market (i.e. Buying Buddy)

The Cookie Banner feature is provided by Wix to help with compliance for the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that aims to protect the right to privacy and the protection of the personal data of European Union (EU) citizens. It is not required in the USA or Canada.
To turn off this feature:
- Go to Wix Settings
- Click the option for "Display a cookie consent banner"
- Turn OFF this feature

Search Results Are Incorrect
Ensure the "Display a cookie consent banner" Wix Settings feature is OFF.
See "Turn Off Cookie Consent Banner".
Widget Layouts Broken: Small Text, No Colors, No Images
The App has lost the connection with the CSS definitions that control styling.
To resolve this issue:
- Go to the Buying Buddy Wix Dashboard and scroll down to the "Style Widgets" section.
- Click the "Apply Theme" button. This should reconnect the App with the theme definitions and restore normal appearance
Incomplete Setup
If you see the following, then the Buying Buddy App has not completed the process of adding the App.
- When you completed the order form and clicked to "Return to Wix", you were left on a white page.
- On the Wix Editor, the "4-squares" icon to Add Apps on the left is red with a warning indicator
In these cases, follow these steps to complete setup.
- Click the "4-squares" icon to Add Apps on the left - this shows the App Market.
- At the bottom - click the link that says "Manage Apps" that has the Red warning message indicator next to it, as shown in this image:
- On the "Manage Apps" panel, click the blue button to "Complete Setup" for the Buying Buddy App
- The Buying Buddy App will then complete setup and add all the pages.
