Search Form Links

Contents

Search Form Links provide a flexible method to give visitors a search form that is preset with specific criteria.

A Search Form Link has filter options added to the link (not the search form) that will be applied to the search form as preset criteria. The user is shown the search form and can add more criteria before searching.

The Search Form Link method makes it very easy to accommodate many scenarios where you want to help users search using specialized or obscure local MLS criteria.

There are 3 components:

  • The URL to a page with the search form
    e.g. http://mysite.com/search/
  • The page must have the Search Widget on it
    id="MBBv3_SearchForm"
  • The link must include the filter to apply
    e.g. filter=view:mo

Create A Search Form Link using the Wizard

Although this is not a method shown in the Wizard, you can use the Wizard to first create a Custom Search Link, and then modified this to create a Search Form Link.

  1. Use the Wizard to create a Custom Search Link (these go directly to the results page).
  2. Then edit the link and change the target page to be a "search" page instead.
    Keep everything else the same.

Example

Show users a search form that is preset with "mountain views".
The filter in the DEMO MLS to show "mountain views" is: filter="view:mo"

Step-1: Use the Wizard to create this Custom Search Link:

https://charliesmithrealty.com/results/?filter=view:mo

Step-2: Change the page in the link to be the search page
ie in this case, change "results" to be "propertysearch"
** MAKE SURE you use your own pages **

Try it: https://charliesmithrealty.com/results/?filter=view:mo
