Install Buying Buddy on Halo

This guide walks you through adding Buying Buddy to a website built with Halo. Halo is an SMS-driven AI website builder - you build and edit your site by texting Halo's AI assistant. The entire Buying Buddy setup is done by sending Halo's AI a short series of ready-made prompts that your Buying Buddy dashboard generates for you. You copy each prompt from your dashboard and text it to Halo - there is no code to write by hand.

Setup by text message: Everything happens in your Halo chat. You hand Halo's AI a series of personalized prompts and it adds the Buying Buddy widgets and pages to your site for you. Halo publishes each change automatically, so there is no separate preview-and-publish step.

What the AI Prompts Set Up for You

The prompts are generated specifically for your account, so Halo's AI already has everything it needs. Setup runs as a five-step flow: three small install prompts, one quick settings entry, and an optional "add recommended widgets" prompt. The install is split into small prompts on purpose - each one gives the AI a single, focused job, and each prompt first checks that the previous step was completed before it makes any changes.

How you send each prompt: For every step, the dashboard shows a Get AI prompt button. Open it, copy the prompt, and send it to your Halo chat as a text message. Because the Halo chat is a text-message field, a longer prompt is split into a few numbered messages ("Part 1 of 3", "Part 2 of 3", and so on) - send each one in order and wait for Halo to reply before sending the next. Part 1 tells Halo not to start until it has every part, so nothing happens until the whole step has arrived.

Step-1 Prompt - Add the Plugin

  • ✅ Adds the Buying Buddy loader to your site so widgets can work on every page
  • ✅ Loads your listings and search from Buying Buddy's servers - no database or server setup is needed on your Halo site

Step-2 Prompt - Create the Foundation Pages

  • ✅ Creates your foundation pages - a Results page, a Property Details page, a Market Report page, and a Communities page
  • ✅ Adds the required MLS disclaimer to your footer

Step-3 Prompt - Add Search & Finish

  • ✅ Adds a property search form to your home page so visitors can start searching right away
  • ✅ Ends with an Action Required checklist - the settings to enter in your dashboard to switch your widgets on

In Step 4 you enter those settings into your dashboard (right on the install page - it takes under a minute). Then the optional Step-5 prompt adds the recommended extras:

  • ✅ A dedicated Search page
  • ✅ A Featured Listings gallery
  • ✅ A Home Value lead-capture form
  • ✅ A Contact Me form
  • ✅ An About Me page
  • ✅ A Register / Login bar across the top of your site header

The Step-5 prompt asks before making any changes - it lists the recommended widgets so you just tell Halo which ones you want.

Built-in guardrails: Every prompt tells Halo's AI to only add the Buying Buddy items requested - it must not redesign, restyle, or "improve" your site. Halo publishes each change automatically, so you will see it go live; review your site after each step and let us know if anything looks off.

More on the way: The AI prompts are regularly improved, and additional setup options may be added over time - so it is always worth grabbing a fresh copy from your dashboard when you install.

Before You Begin

You need an active Buying Buddy account. The widgets will not load without one, and the AI prompts are personalized to your account. Don't have an account yet? Start a free trial or buy a license.

Set your website type to Halo. So the dashboard shows you the correct AI prompts and instructions, confirm your website is set as a Halo site on the Get Ready tab in Menu Widgets > Installation and Setup before you start.

Have your Halo chat ready. You will be copying each prompt from your Buying Buddy dashboard and sending it as a text message to Halo, so keep both open side by side.

Installation Steps

1

Run the Step-1 Prompt - Add the Plugin

Copy your personalized install prompt and text it to Halo

The Step-1 prompt adds the Buying Buddy loader to your site's shared page head. It creates no pages yet - that is Step 2's job. The loader pulls your listings and search from Buying Buddy's servers at runtime, so nothing extra runs on your Halo site.

Get the prompt:
  1. In your Buying Buddy dashboard, go to Installation and Setup
Menu Widgets > Installation and Setup
  2. On the Get Ready tab, confirm your website is set as a Halo site
  3. Open the Install with AI tab, find the Step 1 card, and click Get AI prompt to reveal it
  4. Copy the prompt - it is already personalized to your account, with your Activation Key filled in
Send it to Halo:
  1. Open your Halo chat (the text-message conversation with Halo's assistant)
  2. Send the prompt exactly as copied. If it is split into numbered parts, send each part in order and wait for Halo to reply before sending the next
  3. Halo adds the loader, publishes the change, and tells you it is done - then come back for the Step-2 prompt

Send it as-is. The prompt contains the details your account needs to work correctly. Copy and send it without editing.

If Halo stops and reports something instead: each prompt checks your site before making changes. If it says Buying Buddy is already installed, follow its message - that is the check working as designed, not an error.

2

Run the Step-2 Prompt - Create the Foundation Pages

Create your Results, Property Details, Market Report, and Communities pages and the MLS disclaimer

The Step-2 prompt creates your foundation pages - a Results page, a Property Details page, a Market Report page, and a Communities page - and adds the required MLS disclaimer to your footer. It first verifies the Step-1 install completed; if not, it stops and tells you to run Step 1 first.

  1. Back on the Install with AI tab, find the Step 2 card and click Get AI prompt to reveal it
  2. Copy the prompt and send it to the same Halo chat (sending each part in order if it is split)
  3. Halo creates the pages and the disclaimer, then tells you to come back for the Step-3 prompt

Note: If your MLS does not offer market reports, the Market Report page is skipped automatically.

3

Run the Step-3 Prompt - Add Search & Finish

Add the home-page search form and get your action-required checklist

The Step-3 prompt adds a property search form to your home page. It first verifies Steps 1 and 2 completed.

  1. On the Install with AI tab, find the Step 3 card and click Get AI prompt to reveal it
  2. Copy the prompt and send it to the same Halo chat (sending each part in order if it is split)
  3. Halo adds the search form, then shows an Action Required checklist of the settings to enter

When it finishes: If your site has a sticky or fixed header, the Step-3 prompt walks you through getting your Widget Header Offset values - it gives you a one-line snippet to read your header's height in your browser and tells you where to enter the numbers. You can also get them yourself (see Step 4). If your header is not sticky, there is nothing to do here.

4

Enter Your Settings

Enter the details so your widgets load

When the Step-3 prompt finishes, it shows a short Action Required note. On the Step 4 card of the Install with AI tab, confirm these:

  1. Website Type - should already be set to Halo from the Get Ready tab; if not, set it there first
  2. Widget Header Offset (only if your site has a sticky or fixed header) - enter the values so the Results and Map widgets are not hidden behind your header (see the note below for how to get the numbers)

Then click Save Settings. (You can also manage these values in the full editor under Menu Widgets > Website Options.)

Your site domain: Your Buying Buddy widgets load on the domain you set up when you started your free trial or bought your license - there is nothing to enter here during the install. If you are building on a temporary or staging address for now (for example a huzi.site address while your real domain is not connected yet), the widgets stay blank there until that address is authorized. When you are ready, update your domain from your Buying Buddy upgrade page, or send us a help ticket and we will add it for you.

Getting your Widget Header Offset numbers: The easiest way is to let the Step-3 prompt walk you through it - it gives you a one-line snippet to paste into your browser, reads your header's height, and tells you where to enter the numbers. If you would rather get them yourself: the quick way - enter 100 in each field, save, and view your live site; if the widgets sit too far below the header, lower the number, and if the header overlaps them, raise it, then check again until it lines up. The precise way - open your published site, right-click the header and choose Inspect, read the header's Computed height (do this once at desktop width and once at phone width, as a header is often a different height on mobile), and enter those two numbers. If your header is not sticky, leave the offset fields blank.

Seeing "Sorry, this domain is not authorized"? That message means the plugin is working but the address you are viewing is not the one on your account. This is normal if you are previewing on a temporary or staging address. Update your domain from your Buying Buddy upgrade page, or send us a help ticket, and allow a minute or two after it is added.

5

Add the recommended extras - pages and a login bar

The Step-5 prompt is optional but recommended. Once the install is complete and your settings are entered, run it to add a Search page, a Featured Listings gallery, a Home Value form, a Contact Me form, an About Me page, and a Register/Login bar in your site header.

Get the prompt:
  1. Back on the Install with AI tab - Menu Widgets > Installation and Setup - find the Step 5 card (Add Recommended Widgets) and click Get AI prompt
  2. Copy the prompt - it is also personalized to your account
Send it to Halo:
  1. Send the Step-5 prompt to the same Halo chat (each part in order if it is split)
  2. Halo lists the recommended widgets - tell it which ones you want
  3. Halo adds the pages you chose and, if selected, the Register/Login bar across the top of your header

If the header offset changed: Adding the Register/Login bar may change the height of your site header. If it does, update your Widget Header Offset values on the Step 4 card, or under Menu Widgets > Website Options - see Step 4 for how to get the numbers.

6

Enable Property Sharing

Set up social media sharing with correct listing photos

This final step makes sure that when a property is shared on social media, the link shows the correct listing photo and details. Because your Halo site builds listing pages in the browser, this domain-level setup is what gives shared links their proper preview image and information.

To allow visitors to share properties from your website on Facebook and other social media platforms with the correct listing photos and details, you'll need to set up a "bb" subdomain for your domain.

Setup Options: You can use either Cloudflare (recommended for free SSL certificates) or your current domain registrar.
The Social Media Sharing Setup Instructions will guide you through both options.

Next Step:

Note: Your Buying Buddy dashboard has customized instructions for your domain in the Installation and Setup section (Social Share Settings tab) of your Buying Buddy account.Widgets - Installation and Setup : Social Share tab
Menu Widgets > Plugin Installation and Settings > Social Share tab

Verify Your Setup

On your live Halo site, run a quick end-to-end check:

  1. Submit a search from the home-page search form - you should land on your Results page with listings
  2. Click a listing - you should land on your Property Details page showing that property
  3. Confirm the MLS disclaimer appears on your site

Success: If search, results, property details, and the disclaimer all work, your Buying Buddy installation on Halo is complete.

Already live: Halo publishes your changes automatically, so your site is already live as you go. If widgets are blank, it almost always means the address you are viewing is not the domain on your account - common when you are on a temporary or staging address. Update your domain from your upgrade page or send a help ticket, then allow a minute or two.

Troubleshooting

"Sorry, this domain is not authorized"

The loader is working, but the address you are viewing is not the domain set up on your account. Your domain is authorized when you start your trial or buy your license. If you are previewing on a temporary or staging address, or you have changed domains, update your domain from your Buying Buddy upgrade page, or send us a help ticket and we will add it.

My prompt looked cut off in the chat

A text message has a length limit, so a longer prompt is sent as several numbered parts ("Part 1 of 3", and so on). Send each part in order and wait for Halo to reply before sending the next. Part 1 tells Halo to wait until it has received every part, so it will not start until the whole step has arrived. If you only sent part of a step, send the remaining parts and Halo will then carry it out.

Nothing appears at all

Re-run the setup with a fresh copy of your AI prompts from Menu Widgets > Installation and Setup > Install with AI, and confirm your website type is set to Halo. Each prompt checks whether earlier steps completed, so it is safe to run them again - Halo will tell you what is missing. If widgets still do not appear, run the Check what Buying Buddy components are installed prompt - it is on the Setup Utility Prompts tab, it changes nothing, and it prints a short report of every Buying Buddy component on your site. Send that report to our support team through your Buying Buddy dashboard and we can tell you exactly what is wrong.

Next Steps

Your Halo site is now ready for more Buying Buddy features. Consider adding:

  • Featured listing galleries for your own properties
  • Neighborhood and community pages
  • Additional lead capture forms connected to the Buying Buddy CRM
  • An interactive map search experience
  • Custom styling with Widget Themes
